Hey there! I just want to announce, that my SEO stuff is very successful! I have started with SEO two months ago with an alexa global rank of about 1,900,000, a Google pagerank of 2 (IIRC) and a Google search position for the searchstring “linux” of way below position 200. Since then, I’ve done many, many things to optimize this, including the optimizing of the tex...

Hey peoples! I am soooo sorry for the downtime today morning. This was definitly my own fault… I’m at moving the whole Counter (database and source) to a RAM disc. While this process and a restart of the server, the database was accidentally deleted. So I needed to import the latest backup from 5 hours ago. This means, all changes since today 02:00 CEST are gone and you may nee...

Hello folks, we’ll do a BIOS upgrade very soon on the server. This means a short downtime of about 15 or 20 minutes. So, when you get an error, please just try again a little bit later. Thanks in advance Alex The post Bios Update on Linux Counter Server appeared first on The Linux Counter Blog.

Hey folks, we had a massive and long downtime today in the morning of about 7 hours. Fortunatly I can say, that this was not because of the Counter Project itself. Unfortunatly, I actually don’t even know what has caused this. The only thing I can say, that I was not able to connect to the server, even not with the Remote Console from the IPMI interface. The Remote Console also was not ...

Hey peoples! I’ve just done some great optimizations in the database table structure with indexes and such things. I’ve also deactivated the translation tool (for now), because this is the great major problem when being logged in to the page. This tool slows down the page loading by about 6 seconds! So for now, this is deactivated. The page loads WAY faster now and it makes fun...

Hey there! I know, I’ve asked you for help me with this App, but I really don’t want to wait until Christmas next year until one has the time and is willing to do this. So I’ve now done this by myself. I’ve just (re-)released the new version of the official Linux Counter Android App to the Google Play Marketplace! This new App is a remake of the old one and...

I’ve just cleaned up the kernels table. We are measuring the statistics only from the official kernel versions from kernel.org. It makes no sense to show a kernel version like “3.16.23.11-ubuntu5-amd64-012345″ or something like that. Instead only the single kernel versions are supported, for example: 2.1.45 or 4.0.3 or 3.11.23. The post Kernel Versions cleaned up! app...

Hello dear country managers! Is there any of you still interested in the Linux Counter and reading this? I’m actually at implementing some managers stuff into the Linux Counter Project and I want to ask you, if you are still willing and have the time to again do your managers job? Actually there already is some managers stuff for managing the cities. You can edit City dat (Coordinates, P...
